We have had a wonderful week in 1JT this week. 1JT has been learning all about the routines and expectations of First Grade. We have been reading, writing, playing math games, working on the i-pads and computers (please be sure to send in headphones for your child if you have not done so) and learning all about what it means to be a part of the 1JT family.
As I mentioned at Back To School Night, we started our Rights of A Child unit this week. The children learned that a right is: (what you need to live a full and healthy life)
"No matter what...every child has the right to be and have what they need to live a healthy and happy life...no matter who they are or where they are from."

The first right we have been discussing is food. We will focus on 5 rights: food, water, protection, identity and education.
